Cle Elum is a small city located at the base of the Cascade Mountains. With access to many forests and high mountain lakes the area surrounding Cle Elum is perfect for amazing fishing and hiking in the summer.
In the winter, the hills and mountains of the Cascades make for great cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. While you're in the town you can visit the Carpenter Museum to see the beautiful 1914 mansion, or the Roselyn museum, which has a collection of items relating to the TV series "Northern Exposure", which was filmed in the area.

Carpenter Museum
This 1914 mansion, with its spacious rooms, tiny alcoves and third-floor ballroom, holds the story of Cle Elum's first successful banker and his family. Cle Elum Historical Telephone Museum
This museum was established in 1966 when Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company deeded its former office building to the Cle Elum Historical Society. Iron Horse State Park

South Cle Elum Depot Restoration
The Friends of the South Cle Elum Depot (FSCED) are working to restore this former Milwaukee Railroad depot and power substation. The buildings are not yet ready for public entry, but a visit to the site makes a fascinating side trip. Call (509) 674-5939 for more information.
Speelyi Beach
Speelyi Beach on the Cle Elum Lake is a great place to spend the day. Swim near the beach or take a boat out into the water. For the fishing experts, cast your line out and try your luck catching lake trout, kokanee, or rainbow trout.
